Sonora

Privacy

This is a demonstration site. Sonora is not a real restaurant, no real orders or bookings are taken, and the address and phone number are invented. This page is written the way a real one would be so you can see the shape of it.

What we collect

If you fill in the catering form we receive the name, phone number and email address you type, along with the date, the number of people and anything you write in the message box. That is all of it. We do not ask for payment details and there is no account to create.

What we do with it

We use it to answer your enquiry. We do not sell it and we do not send marketing unless you ask us to.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are stored in the website database until we delete them. A real restaurant would clear them out once the enquiry has been settled.

Cookies and tracking

WordPress sets a small number of cookies to keep the site working. There is no advertising and there are no analytics trackers on this site.

Who else is involved

The site runs on our own server. The typefaces are served by Adobe, so your browser makes a request to their servers each time a page loads and they will see your IP address.

Getting in touch

Write to hello@example.com if you would like a copy of what we hold about you, or if you would like it deleted.

Ordering online

You can also order food through this site. This part of the policy covers what that collects and who sees it.

What we collect when you order

When you place an order we collect your name, email address and phone number. If you are having the order delivered we also collect the delivery address, the apartment or unit number, and any delivery instructions you add. We keep the order itself: what you ordered, whether it was pickup or delivery, the time you chose, and what you paid.

We do not store your card details. Card payments are handled by Stripe, and the card number is typed into a form that Stripe controls. What comes back to us is confirmation that the payment went through, and the last four digits.

Who sees your order

We use a few companies to run the ordering side of the restaurant, and each one sees only the part of your order it needs.

Stripe processes card payments. See the Stripe privacy policy.

Google provides the address suggestions in the address field. What you type there is sent to Google so it can return suggestions. See the Google privacy policy.

Postmark sends your receipt and the copy that goes to the kitchen.

Twilio sends the order texts, for customers who asked for them.

Vultr hosts the site and the database the orders are stored in.

We do not sell your information and we do not hand it to anyone else to advertise to you.

Text message updates

There is a checkbox at checkout asking whether you would like text updates about your order. It is not checked when you get there, so you will only get texts if you tick it yourself.

If you do tick it, you will get one to three texts per order, such as a confirmation when we receive it and a message when it is ready. We do not send marketing or promotional texts. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any of our messages to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help, or give us a call at (555) 555-0142 and we will take you off the list. Leaving the box unchecked, or replying STOP later, does not affect your order, and you will still get your receipt by email.

We do not share mobile numbers with third parties for their marketing. Your number goes to Twilio, who send the messages on our behalf, and it is used for nothing but texts about your own order.

Cookies on the ordering pages

The site sets a session cookie so that your cart and your pickup or delivery choice survive moving between pages. There are no advertising cookies and we do not run analytics or tracking.

How long we keep orders

We keep order records for seven years, which is the period our tax records have to cover. Your address and phone number stay attached to the order for that time.

Asking us about an order

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us at hello@example.com and tell us which order you mean. We may have to keep a record of a completed order for the tax period above even after a deletion request, and we will tell you if that is the case.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

We may update this policy.
